Investir sets the table to present the investment merits of two companies in the same sector. The face-off aims to establish which of the two companies is the most attractive by analyzing a set of relevant financial characteristics. This week, the duel opposes Jean Coutu Group and Shoppers Drug Mart, two companies which have recently reached new highs.
As you must have read in every newspaper, the first quarter of 2012 was spectacular for worldwide stock markets. The US was up over 10%, Europe between 3% and 17% and Asia also over 10%. Sadly, the Canadian market lagged with a mere 3.5% return because of weakness in commodity prices.
